Her Royal Highness was accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh and The Prince of Wales for her first visit to the area since 1987.
Having visited south-east London and Surrey on Tuesday, the Queen arrived in east Lancashire at around midday as part of the celebrations marking her 60 years on the throne.
The royal party set off on a barge down the Leeds-Liverpool Canal before arriving at Weavers' Triangle where they were greeted by cheering crowds.

Previously home to Burnley's famed textiles industry, the area has more recently been rejuvenated by The Prince's Charities.
The Queen met a host of organisations and young people who have benefited from her son's charity organisation, praising the prince for 'helping to make a considerable difference to the town and its people'.
After visiting Burnley College and Burnley Football Club's Turf Moor Stadium, the Queen will then make her way to Accrington where she will attend a reception and a parade.
Accrington town centre manager, Rob Gregorious, said: 'It's a fantastic honour to have the Queen come to visit us.
'Everybody is excited and there is a really buzz about the place.'
On Thursday, the Queen and Duke will remain in the north west of England ahead of planned visits to Chester Zoo, Warrington and Liverpool.
