The injury has ruled Sagna out of France’s 2012 campaign and is the second time he has broken his leg this season.

Speaking after Saturday’s game, the 29-year-old told L'Equipe: ‘I think he did it on purpose.

‘He stepped on my leg. Play continues, I get back on my feet. And when I tried to control the ball, I felt a crack, just like the first time at Tottenham.

‘He stepped right where the plate was. I think the plate pressured (the bone). It's a neat break, just above the plate.’

The Arsenal right back said he was confident he would overcome the injury though, adding: ‘That's how it is. It's football. It has happened to others before me.

‘I came back once, I will come back a second time. Even stronger.’

Arsenal’s draw with Norwich at the Emirates means the north London side are only two points clear of fourth and fifth-placed Spurs and Newcastle who are also vying to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season but now have a game in hand.

Newcastle face league leaders Manchester City at St James’ Park this afternoon, while Spurs take on Aston Villa at Villa Park.
