The San Francisco Bay Area chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training (TNT) was represented once again during the Olympic Torch Relay.

The London 2012 Olympic Games begin on July 22 and the Olympic Torch Relay is currently underway. Earlier this month, San Francisco Bay Area endurance sports training and charity program, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training (TNT), was represented once again during the relay, this time by triathlete Nikhil Parikh.
“LLS and TNT have a long history with the Olympics,” said Leah Schilling of LLS. “In 2002, three members of the LLS family participated in the Olympic Torch Relay, and this year we were represented by Nikhil, an outstanding athlete, when he ran with the torch in Birkenhead, England on June 1.”
Parikh was one of 8,000 inspirational torchbearers carrying the flame on its 70-day journey from Greece to London. In September, he completed his first triathlon with TNT and helped raise over $6,000 for LLS. Parikh attributes much of his success to the support of his co-workers, who supported him with donations, matching gifts, and training and nutrition tips.
“The support I received from my colleagues exemplifies the spirit of the Olympics and what it means to be part of a team,” said Nikhil. And being part of a team like TNT means being a life-saving hero to Bay Area blood cancer patients.
