 BigHand facilitated a successful transition to a digital dictation solution
London (PRWEB UK) 24 May 2012
Thornhills Medical Practice is a large GP surgery located 6 miles from Maidstone, in Larkfield Kent. Whilst experiencing limitations with the existing practices’ analogue tape system, BigHand facilitated a successful transition to a digital dictation solution. With BigHand, Doctor’s now have the ability to send all dictations to a fully customisable workflow which is monitored by the Practices’ secretaries.
Incorporating eleven authors and three secretaries, the practice identified a key number of areas with which digital dictation could help improve the GP Practices’ way of working;
· Facilitate work sharing - inter-departments/team
· Improve document turnaround times
· Improve dictation sound quality
· Improve work distribution and management
· Provision of management information reports
Christian Nelson, Practice Manager at Thornhills commented;
“Prior to BigHand, we experienced all of the usual problems associated with our analogue tape system, tapes going missing, poor quality of recordings etc, but the biggest benefit we have seen with BigHand is the smoothness and efficiency in the workflow of producing a letter from dictation to print. Everything is organised and structured and easy to locate and prioritise. It is so easy to use even the hardiest “computerphobe” would quickly get used to it and it has been 100% reliable and never gone wrong. We love it.”
Integrating BigHand’s System Administration console and Reporting Module, the GP Practice is now able to centrally manage all users, departments and priorities etc through one system which is broken into task groups reducing complexities and increasing usability by making the application focus on the actual tasks administrators are trying to achieve. In turn the Reporting Module allows the Practice to identify all administrative and secretarial activity including aspects such as turnaround times and productivity.
BigHand offers GP Surgeries an option to save money and streamline their clinical correspondence process, by offering a single, high quality technology platform, uniquely developed and supported entirely in the UK.
