Robin Gibb Wakes Out Of Coma

Reported by Huffington Post on Saturday, 21 April 2012 (on April 21, 2012)
Huffington Post
Cancer-stricken Bee Gees star Robin Gibbext has returned to consciousness after slipping into a coma last week.

The 62-year-old musician is battling cancer of the colon and liver and also suffered complications when he developed pneumonia.

But Robin is now nodding his head and communicating with his friends and family after they played music in attempt to lift him out of his coma.

Distraught friends and relatives have been keeping a bedside vigil for the star, and have been playing Robin's favourite songs and singing along at the hospital.

And the singer/songwriter even wept when he heard the Roy Orbison hit Crying.

Speaking outside his London hospital, Robin's wife Dwina said: "He's moving his head and nodding. When we're asking questions he's responding to them. I can't believe it. We've been playing music to him all along. I thought he'd respond to it and, when they hooked him up to an ECG scanner, it showed he was.

"We're very pleased. We think he might even talk once the tubes come out."

Dwina has supported her husband throughout his battle with the disease and is said to be "amazingly positive" he will make a recovery.

A friend of the couple told The Mirror: "Dwina has been incredible. She has been such a rock of support for everyone and is just so, so strong, remains upbeat and is just willing Robin on and on. She will never give up - just like Robin's attitude throughout all his recent health problems. The pair share that same fighting mentality."
